Our Team
Dr. Kara Ballek
Dr. Ballek is an energetic individual with a deep passion for animal care and their well being. Her career as a Veterinarian was born out of a childhood love for her family pets and any other animals that crossed her path.

After a very successful academic career in Saucon Valley School District, Kara attended the Pennsylvania State University majoring in Animal Bio-Science. Upon graduating at the head of her class from Penn State, Dr. Ballek continued the pursuit of her dream career at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. During Vet School, Kara worked part-time at the Quakertown Veterinary Clinic, and accepted an Associate Veterinarian position at QVC after graduating from Penn. Dr. Ballek eventually transitioned into a similar position at Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital, where she spent nine years of her career prior to opening Creekview Veterinary Hospital.

In her personal life, Kara resides with her life partner and CEO, Mike Meixell, PE. Their household consists of a small zoo of seven; two rescued beagles and five cats, including a 3-legged and a blind cat. Dr. Ballek is also an avid Penn State Football fan, loves beach life (including Jimmy Buffet music) and is a bit of a wine enthusiast.
Julie Hillegass, CVT
Julie is a loving and dedicated person who brings these attributes to every facet of her life. Her friends and family, as well as the clients, patients and team members at Creekview Veterinary Hospital all benefit from her presence.
She graduated from Brandywine Heights Area School District and then pursued an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology at Lehigh County Community College; having attained the status of Certified Veterinary Technician in 1999. In total, Julie has honed her skills as a Veterinary Nurse for nearly 20 years in the Lehigh Valley area. During her career, she has worked at Hamilton Animal Care, Kutztown Animal Hospital, Valley Central Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, and Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital before joining our Creekview Team.
At home, Julie and her husband Norm are the doting parents of their two daughters. Their household is rounded out by two fur babies, Athena and Trixey; a Pit Bull mix and a short haired dachshund.
